1 May 2024: Ms Lesley Jordan has advised the Board of her intention to step down as interim Chief Executive Officer of HeartKids, to take effect from 1 May 2024, as part of a planned transition having successfully stabilised the organisation over the past 16 months. Ms Jordan’s decision is motivated by her belief that the organisation is positioned strongly for future growth and her desire to spend more time with family. She will remain with HeartKids until mid June 2024 to ensure a smooth transition.
Effective from 1 May 2024, HeartKids is pleased to announce that Mr Marcus Sandmann will step up into the role of Chief Executive Officer. An experienced executive, Marcus currently serves as Chief Operating and Marketing Officer and has been with HeartKids since February 2023.
Elizabeth Foley, HeartKids Chairperson said, “The board would like to thank Lesley for her significant contribution over the past 16 months. Under her leadership, HeartKids has gone through a major organisational restructure, strengthened governance processes and successfully launched the first National Standards of Care for Childhood Onset Heart Disease. At the same time, HeartKids has renewed our MOUs with all major children’s hospitals around Australia and expanded corporate partnerships including those with Super Cheap Auto and Roche.
“Marcus Sandmann is a highly experienced executive who brings his expertise in marketing, fundraising, and advocacy from a career spanning three decades across the profit and NFP sectors. In addition, he was instrumental in the delivery of several growth and transformation projects for multinational organisations in the Asia Pacific region meaning he is well placed to build on the current growth trajectory.
This announcement is part of a planned transition and follows extensive succession planning to ensure stability and continuity in our operations and strategic growth plans moving forward. The Board looks forward to working with Marcus.”
