Swisse Color Run – SOLD OUT – volunteers required

THE HAPPIEST 5KM SET TO GET BIGGER AND BETTER IN SYDNEY

The Swisse Color Run is thrilled to announce that registrations for the Sydney event set for Sunday, February 10, 2013 are SOLD OUT and we can confirm 20,000 runners!!!

The Color Run Australia National Manager, Luke Hannan commented, “We’re so excited to be able to share the Happiest 5km on the Planet with 20,000 Sydney-siders come February. This is a huge result. We’ve worked closely with our venue, Sydney Olympic Park, to ensure that participants will enjoy the ultimate Color Running experience.”

Color Runners will be able to access the start line at any time from 9am – 10.30am, with runners released in waves to take on the course, being showered with coloured powder at each kilometre mark. The event is not a race and is not timed – it’s all about having fun, enjoying a colourful day out and connecting with family and friends. Ample parking will be available around the venue, along with a range of public transport options servicing the venue.

Having kicked off its Australian tour in Melbourne in November 2012, The Swisse Color Run in Sydney is a five kilometre fun run with a colourful twist, where participants of all ages and fitness levels are covered in coloured powder by the time they’ve completed the course. The event will then continue its Australian tour, set to visit Perth (Feb 17, 2013), Brisbane, Adelaide, Gold Coast, Newcastle, Canberra and a second Sydney event set for August 25, 2013 in Centennial Park – event dates and registrations to be announced imminently via the website.

The Celebrate Life Foundation, founded by Swisse hope to generate more than $1 million in charitable contributions over the next 12 months through The Swisse Color Run, and other fundraising efforts. The Foundation in conjunction with The Swisse Color Run will make a donation to HeartKids at the conclusion of the Sydney event, and encourage all who participate in The Swisse Color Run to run for the cause and assist by also raising funds via the Everyday Hero website.

HeartKids CEO, Jann Kingston said, “We’re excited about the extension of the field in Sydney, and keen to encourage Sydney-siders to run for the HeartKids cause and raise much needed funds through the Everyday Hero website.”

Funds raised for HeartKids will assist them in continuing to improve the lives of children with Childhood Heart Disease by raising awareness, providing support, advocating for their needs and funding research.

Swisse Chief Executive Officer Radek Sali has welcomed the partnership of the iconic international event with Australia’s leading wellness brand.

“The Swisse Color Run is a celebration about being fit and healthy. At Swisse, we celebrate life every day, so this Australian-first event is the perfect fit for our national community program,” he said.

Once runners complete the course, the fun and festivities continue with the ‘Finish Festival’. A coloured extravaganza of epic proportions featuring music and a family-friendly party atmosphere, celebrations culminate in a mass throw of colour packets to create a cloud of rainbow colours. Importantly, there is also an area for runners to get cleaned up before leaving the venue!

The Color Run series began in Arizona in the US in January 2012 and instantly captured the imagination of the American public, attracting almost one million ‘Color Runners’ to date.  Australia is privileged to be the first country to welcome the phenomenon outside of the US.

Inspired in part by the Hindu Holi festival, with its tradition of welcoming Spring by throwing natural coloured powders, The Swisse Colour Run guarantees a truly memorable experience as runners are showered in coloured powder (made from food grade corn starch, 100% natural and safe) at each kilometre stage, turning their pristine white attire into a rainbow explosion of colours.
