The provision of information is an important part of the support that HeartKids provides to families. We believe that up-to-date, relevant information is a vital piece of our community’s armoury in the fight against childhood heart disease.
HeartKids provides extensive information to educate parents, caregivers, teens, adults and families affected by childhood heart disease. This educational information is provided by our Family Support Staff in hospitals as well as in the community, at events and seminars (either face-to-face or online), via our very interactive social media communities and by direct contact with your local HeartKids office.
Information, advice and support is always just a phone call away by dialing our National Information Line on 1800 432 785.
Information and resources specifically for heart kids aged 13 to 22 years can be found at www.myheart.org.au. Heart teens and young adults should also join MyHeart – our HeartKids Teen Community on Facebook – to keep informed, supported and connected with others. A key focus of HeartKids is to educate and support this group as they transition from paediatric to adult care.
Click below to hear some insightful presentations from expert speakers on the treatment and impacts of childhood heart disease. These were filmed at recent HeartKids Education Days for parents, as well as a specific Education Day for adults with childhood heart disease (ACHD).
