For Young People
Childhood heart disease is a lifelong journey and we support heart kids through all stages of life. We recognise that teens and young adults have unique needs, so we have dedicated programs and resources specifically for 13 to 22 year olds.
HeartKids is focussed on supporting and educating this group as they transition from paediatric to adult care, and a big part of this is keeping them connected with others who understand their situation. The MyHeart Teen Community on Facebook helps HeartKids to share information and events of specific interest to this group, whilst helping them to connect and share their stories and experiences with each other.
www.myheart.org.au is a quality online resource dedicated to young people with childhood heart disease. Covering everything from relationships and body image to heart health and exercise it has all the latest information to help heart teens maintain the best possible care of their health as they transition to adulthood.
If you are a heart kid aged 13 – 22 or older, we’d love you to share your story. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org to chat about how your story can help others.
HeartKids organises events and camps to help teens with childhood heart disease to meet and develop lasting friendships with others and to give them an opportunity to undertake fun and challenging activities in a supportive environment.
The next National Teen Camp is scheduled for Friday 20th – Monday 23rd January 2017 at Rottnest Island, WA.
