HeartKids are very proud to be collaborating with the Heart Research Institute to better improve the future outcomes of all those living with childhood-onset heart disease.
HeartKids is the only national profit for purpose charity who are dedicated to supporting children, teens and adults affected by congenital heart disease (CHD) or heart disease acquired during childhood all across Australia. We are focused on funding the research, information and care that provide constant support to patients and families from diagnosis all the way throughout their life journey with CHD. HeartKids work is outcome-focused and demonstrates real impact for families impacted by congenital heart disease, and for the community. While we concentrate on our community and their current needs by providing information, critical support to families and advocating for our community's needs, organisations like the Heart Research Institute are involved in groundbreaking research that we hope will improve the lives of children, young people and adults living with CHD.
This latest research called The Congenital Heart Fitness Trial (CH-FIT) is funded by the Medical Research Futures Fund as part of the National Strategic Action Plan for Childhood Heart Disease that HeartKids is currently undertaking. CH-FIT is a research project that will investigate the health impact of exercise, and the best way to help adults and children living with congenital heart disease to lead active lives. The project is the largest and most definitive trial ever performed in people living with CHD.
