Stem Cell research funding for congenital heart disease
HeartKids is pleased to partner with Stem Cells Australia in the fight to conquer congenital heart disease. Stem Cell Australia has been granted $3 million in research funding with congenital heart disease as an identified priority.
The Minister for Health, The Hon. Greg Hunt MP, reiterated the Australian Government's support for the Conquering Childhood Heart Disease Research Mission, by providing $750,000 in funding to investigate regeneration of heart muscle using stem cells.
Mark Brooke, HeartKids CEO, at the launch said, "This is exciting research that will add to the volume of research work and novel new treatments currently being funded."
The research announcement came about following continued advocacy by HeartKids as part of our strategy to increase investment in childhood heart disease research.
