Expertise in all aspects of adult cardiology, including: the diagnosis and management valvular disease, ischaemic heart disease, and heart failure. His special interests include 3D echocardiography, aortic and mitral valve disorders, and infiltrative cardiomyopathies.

Biography

Dr David Russell is a cardiologist specialising in multi-modality cardiac imaging. He completed his medical degree at the University of Tasmania, and his specialist training at the Royal Hobart Hospital and the Austin Hospital (Melbourne). Further to his training, he has undertaken a cardiac MRI fellowship at St Bartholomew’s Hospital (London), and an advanced echocardiology fellowship at St Vincent’s Hospital (Melbourne).

Dr David Russell has held a staff specialist cardiology appointment at the Royal Hobart Hospital since June 2018 where he has an active role in teaching cardiac sonographers and cardiology registrars. He is the local principal investigator for international cardiac amyloid trials
