Biography
Dr John Rivers is a Director of the Queensland Cardiovascular Group, with special interests in heart failure, valve disease, and all aspects of echocardiography, including exercise stress echocardiography, transoesophageal echocardiography and intraoperative echocardiography for valve surgery. Under Dr Rivers’ direction, QCG has become well recognised for high quality non-invasive testing.
Dr Rivers is a graduate of the University of Queensland in both Medicine and Science, and holds a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in Cardiology. After obtaining his postgraduate degrees, Dr Rivers undertook a clinical and research Fellowship at the internationally recognised Greenlane Hospital in Auckland, New Zealand, and at the time was involved in key research in thrombolysis therapy. He has also worked at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland USA.
