Healthdirect is a government-funded virtual health service that provides access to health advice and information via a website, app and telephone helpline to help people make informed health decisions.
Availability
The healthdirect helpline (1800 022 222), known as NURSE-ON-CALL in Victoria, is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in all Australian states and territories except Queensland.

If your health concern is not urgent call the healthdirect helpline at any time on 1800 022 222 for free advice and reassurance (known as NURSE-ON-CALL in Victoria).
The healthdirect helpline is a 24-hour telephone health advice line that operates seven days a week. It is staffed by registered nurses who provide expert health advice.
You can call for advice if you or a member of your family are feeling ill and are unsure what to do, or for health information on a particular condition.
•   You should not call healthdirect in an emergency, or if you have a health condition that may required diagnosis and treatment by a doctor
•   healthdirect is available 24 hours a day and 7 days a week including all public holidays on 1800 022 222
•   healthdirect may direct you to local health services if required
•   healthdirect is a national service, however, calls from Victoria and Queensland will be transferred to their respective nurse triage services.
•   Calls from landlines are free, but mobile call charges may apply
