Workplace Giving
For as little as the cost of a cup of coffee each week, you can help ensure a heart kid and their family receive the care and support they need—today, tomorrow, and into the future.
What is Workplace Giving?
Workplace Giving (sometimes called Payroll Giving) is a simple and powerful way to support HeartKids. Employees choose to donate a small portion of their pre-tax salary directly to us, and the tax benefit is immediate—no need to wait until the end of the financial year.
It’s a true partnership between employees, employers, and charities. Together, we can make a real difference for children and families impacted by CoHD.
Workplace Giving is one of the most effective ways Australians can support a charity – it’s easy, impactful, and rewarding for everyone involved.
Many organisations also offer Matched Giving, where they match their employees’ donations. Some match dollars for dollar, others double donations or match up to a capped amount. Whatever the approach, it’s a fantastic way for businesses to show they care, celebrate their employees’ generosity, and maximise the impact for heart kids and their families.
How It Works

1
Employees select the amount they would like to donate to HeartKids each pay cycle. This can be done through payroll or an online workplace giving platform.

2
The nominated donation amount is deducted from the employee’s pre-tax pay, so the tax benefit is immediate reducing paperwork at tax time. Example: When
you donate $5.00 of your pre-tax earnings – it only costs you approximately $3.50, but HeartKids receives the full $5.00 to support their families.

3
HeartKids receives your donation and directs it to where it’s needed most. Every dollar helps us provide vital support, services, and care for children with
childhood-onset heart disease and their families -ensuring they get the best help possible, when they need it most.
Ways to donate
Through your company payroll, each pay cycle:
1. Invite your employees to opt-in using a registration form and send it to your internal payroll department to setup automatic deductions. HeartKids can provide you with a sample form.
2. Contact HeartKids for our bank account details at: giving@heartkids.org.au
3. Once deductions commence, email your remittance advice each pay cycle to: giving@heartkids.org.au
4. Advise HeartKids if donations are being matched by Employer – provide details of
company matching.
Volunteer as a Team
Volunteering as a team to support HeartKids offers numerous benefits beyond individual contributions. By coming together, teams can amplify their impact, pooling skills, resources, and enthusiasm to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by CoHD. Volunteering as a team provides opportunities for team members to collaborate in a supportive environment to assist the delivery of various programs and initiatives at HeartKids.
