Strong Hearts, Strong Mob

Impact of RHD and CoHD on First Nations People

This space is for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people, families and communities impacted by childhood heart conditions. HeartKids walks alongside community — offering support, sharing knowledge and creating connection in ways that respect culture and honour strength. This space brings together tools, stories and resources to help improve understanding, care and outcomes.

Our Support In Action

HeartKids supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families impacted by childhood heart conditions through our Family Support Team, Helpline and culturally informed resources. We also share lived experience through our From the Heart podcast and provide tools to help families navigate care and stay connected.

Resources for Mob

Explore our range of resources developed with First Nations people to support understanding and management of childhood-onset heart disease (CoHD) and rheumatic heart disease (RHD).

Our Projects and Partners

We support stronger, more culturally safe care by working with health professionals, Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs), and other service providers. This includes offering education and outreach through webinars, resources and conferences; partnering with ACCHOs and community health services; contributing to cultural safety initiatives; and driving awareness through campaigns and advocacy. We also welcome collaboration opportunities to extend our impact and share lived experience.
