
Mark Edmonds
Mark joined HeartKids in February 2002 as the Education Project Coordinator for the National Strategic Action Plan for Childhood Heart Disease (CoHD). The role of the Education Project Coordinator is to develop and co-design education materials in consultation with industry experts and consumers to support the educational needs of healthcare professionals and the wider CoHD community. Mark has a background as Medical Neuroscientist and is a registered Clinical Neurophysiologist. He has spent 30 years working in the field of Neurophysiology in clinical, research and managerial roles at 3 major tertiary university teaching hospitals, and has been responsible for the initiation of many new health services and initiatives and is committed to improving health standards and outcomes for the Australian health community.
Mark has a lifelong passion for health education and holds an academic teaching role with the University of Sydney with the Faculty of Medicine and Health and has been involved in the inception, support and running of significant national health education projects. He also retains a position on the education committee of the Australian Neurophysiology Scientist Association. He has also recently completed post graduate qualification in digital education and is passionate about improving health outcomes through innovation and the democratisation of education.
Mark is an avid music fan and self-confessed HiFi bore. He has been actively involved in dog fostering and rescue with several greyhound organisations as well as the RSPCA, although the visitor rate to his house has been slowed by a recent foster fail, Rara. He has a passionate love of swimming in the cold waters of Port Phillip bay.
