Ella’s Story | Warrnambool

Blogs, Two Feet

Ella will join the HeartKids community at the Two Feet & A Heartbeat walk in Warrnambool this October.

At 22, Ella shares her story of growing up with a heart condition, finding pride in being a heart kid, and embracing life beyond her diagnosis.

Can you tell us about your heart journey?

Hello, I’m Ella! I’m 22 years old and I have Tetralogy of Fallot. I had three open-heart surgeries when I was little and I will have to get my valve replaced in the future.

I don’t let my heart condition define me. I’m currently living the life I dreamed of with my husband Zavier and we are expecting our first baby this September!

How has HeartKids supported your journey?

If it wasn’t for HeartKids I wouldn’t be as proud as I am today to say I’m a heart warrior, and it’s something I’m so deeply proud of.

What do you wish more people understood about childhood heart conditions?

Heart kid warriors are the strongest little humans!

What would you say to another heart family?

Having a heart condition doesn’t define you.

As a younger woman growing up with a heart condition, I can proudly say that life is just as good. I think even better than an average person. We get to live with a story.
